I stole the heading from the stage show RENT of course. And right now is a great time to think about this.  Get in early so we can set a course for 2015 that really sets the stage for Fun & Profit… or just efficiency and profit if that’s what you’re after.

Looking back, what are the highlights? What are the moments? What were the themes? And, really how do you wish it was?

So, as the song goes, in daylights, in midnights, in friendships or cups of coffee. When it comes to business, what are your critical success factors? What can we learn from 2014 to make 2015 our best year ever?

It’s kind of like the Brisbane Storms really… what can we learn? How was your disaster recovery plan?  For mine, I’m sitting here at the dining table, unable to access my office, I’ve lost a couple of computers and don’t know exactly when (or if) it’ll be safe to get back to the office any time soon. Yet I’m one of the lucky ones. Instead of being in the office at the time I was at a meeting at Chermside, my colleague who I was meeting got a call from a dear friend letting her know the storm was coming.  She moved the car just in time. Yep, she’s lucky too.

At the time I was blissfully unaware of the full impact of the storm, only finding out later that evening.  In the morning, there were ominous signs when I saw reports of flash flooding with a newsreel of the street adjacent to the office, and on walking in at 7:00 for a 7:30 meeting it looked like it’d been raining within the office.  Still I’m lucky… It’s all minor stuff in the big scheme of things.

Setbacks… we all get them… It’s what you make them mean. It’s how you react. It what you do next that will be the difference to your success. I so often find at such times that the support of others is critical my mental health.  By Friday afternoon at a Christmas lunch, we were comparing notes and realising how lucky we all were, even had a few laughs. It’s a key point, that surrounding yourself with other success minded people can make a huge difference.  Success rubs off, I’m sure of it.  It the whole collective mind thing.

On the weekend, I was having a BBQ with Melissa(my partner), I was discussing a challenge I was having, knowing that true fulfilment is where you Passion meets your purpose and where you provide value to others.  I was looking for a ‘P’ word, I had been for a couple of days… All of a sudden I piped up with ‘Production’ of course, where your passion meets your purpose and combines with production, you’ll find true success and fulfilment, complete joy serving others doing something you love.

Thanks Melissa… and she didn’t even have to say a thing, just both of us thinking on the problem bought out production.  It’s what Masterminding is all about.

In fact that’s why I’m looking to establish Incubator groups from mid-January. To accelerate the success of small business owners by combining the strength of Masterminding with the power of personal coaching.
